Writeidea will take place at Idea Store Whitechapel from Friday 14 November to Sunday 16 November.

As well as the main Festival, there are fantastic Fringe events. We all have a story: listen to theirs, share ours, bring yours.

The festival will kick off on Friday 14 before the Tariq Ali event with Urban Playground – Morpeth School’s large woodwind and brass ensemble.

Urban Playground

They rehearse every Monday and is made up of students from Years 7 to 13. Urban Playground has performed all over the world, including New York, Madrid and Iceland and performed at many great festivals including the Cultural Olympiads BT River of Music. They have also had the privilege to work with many amazing musicians such as Wynton Marsalis, Christian Scott, Arun Ghosh and the Soul Rebels Brass Bands.

This will be followed by SLAMbassadors featuring, Samila Naira and Nafeesa Mohammed, overall winner of the Buckinghamshire Slam Championships.


SLAMbassadors UK is the Poetry Society’s national youth slam championships, and the longest running youth slam in the country.
